Welcome to CTCHIP.ORG

Thank you for visiting CTCHIP.ORG. At this time CTCHIP is on hiatus due to COVID. We will resume our program in 2021. Please submit event requests early for Spring 2021. Our program is the most comprehensive child identification tool in the United States designed to give families a measure of protection against the ever increasing problem of missing children. In 2018 almost 425,000 children were reported missing. In almost 90% of the reported missing children cases, abduction is not the issue. It’s often due to miscommunication, getting lost, or children running away. There are approximately 1,435 kidnappings each year. In 2017, 195 Amber Alerts were issued. The alerts involved 263 kids. Amber Alerts are issued if a child under the age of 17 is believed to have been abducted and is suspected to be in immediate danger of injury or even death. After an Amber Alert, 58% of missing children are recovered within 3 hours!!

Protect Your Family: The Connecticut Freemasons Foundation working with other partnering organizations and agencies has upgraded the CTCHIP equipment technology from VHS to DVD and now to Flash Drives as part of our ongoing commitment to children and families. This program will continue to be brought free of charge to every family who wishes to participate. This upgrade allows the re-packaging of the identifying items generated at CTCHIP Events into a smaller easy-to-carry and take-on-vacation "PURPLE PACK".

The Purple Pack includes a Flash Drive which has a video of your child, still photos, vital information, your child's fingerprints, a dental impression, scent sample and a DNA swab. All the information law enforcement needs for a speedy recovery.

To date the program has held over 1000 CTCHIP events and has provided the parents of more than 65,000 children with identification packets. It is our sincerest hope that no family will need the resources provided in our packets, but if the need should arise, we believe the information contained in our "Purple Pack" will be instrumental to law enforcement agencies in recovery of missing children.

The Connecticut Freemasons schedule and bring this fine program to communities throughout Connecticut at fairs, festivals and gatherings free of cost to parents. Please check our calendar for current CTCHIP events. If you would like CTCHIP to be present at your event, please fill out an event request.

All identifying items generated at CTCHIP Events are placed in a "purple pack" and given to the parent or guardian to take home for safe keeping. The Connecticut Freemasons keep nothing but the permission form signed by the parent prior to participation in the event.

Neither Rain, nor Wind, nor Tornado Threat...
kept the volunteers away from the CT-CHIP event for the Channel 3 Kids Camp Extravaganza at Rentchler Field in East Hartford on June 6th, 2010. While RWB Donald Dean surveyed the field, the members and volunteers from Friendship Tuscan Lodge No. 145 set up the canopies, tables and chairs, and ran power to and tested the equipment. But, all eyes remained on the weather as
things got underway and the kids started through.

Then came the wind, darker clouds, and the tornado warning. The skies were scanned, and it was decided that the event should be concluded as soon as possible. The remaining kids were brought through and the stations were packed up as the last child passed by. With out a moment to spare, the full crew packed up all the equipment and got to their vehicles. That is when the storm hit with a vengeance. THUNDER, LIGHTNING, and HEAVY DOWNPOURS.

Although the threat of the storms ultimately kept the Extravaganza attendees away, we successfully processed thirty (30) children. That's thirty families that have the added safety of the CT-CHIP purple pack. Way to go team!! Thank you to all the volunteers who braved the weather to make this event a success.

The Connecticut Dental Hygienists' Association is a proud supporter of CTCHIP!
